Story of the Day -Food(Chakula)

Miqdam bin Madikarib said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings be upon him) say: ‘A human being fills no worse vessel than his stomach. It is sufficient for a human being to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must (fill it), then one third of food, one third for drink and one third for air.’”

Miqdam bin Madikarib alisema:
"Nilimsikia Mtume wa Allah( Rehema na Baraka zimshukie) akisema: 'Hakuna chombo kibaya binadamu hukijaza kama tumbo lake. Inamtosha Binadamu kula madonge machache kuusimamisha imara uti wake wa mgongo. Lakini ikimbidi aujaze, basi aweke theluthi moja chakula, theluthi moja maji, na theluthi moja hewa'".

Story of the Day - Sunrise/Sunset

Narrated Ibn `Umar:
Allah's Messenger () said, "When the (upper) edge of the sun appears (in the morning), don't perform a prayer till the sun appears in full, and when the lower edge of the sun sets, don't perform a prayer till it sets completely. And you should not seek to pray at sunrise or sunset for the sun rises between two sides of the head of the devil (or Satan). (Bukhari 9:59)

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Abdullah ibn Umar that Umar ibn al-Khattab used to say, "Do not intend to do your prayer at either sunrise or sunset, for the horns of Shaytan rise with the rising of the sun and set with its setting."
Umar used to beat people for that kind of prayer. (Bukhari 15:49)

FUTARIIII!!!!!!!!!

Jamani ndo tuna karibia kumaliza fungo kumi la pili. Vipi mmnaendelaje?

Maji yanaanza kuendesha digestive system yako.

Jamani Jamani! Natamani Chai na Keki sasa.

Ijuma Njema wadau!

Being Muslim in Las Vegas

I nabbed the story below from the Guardian. A good read, written by Jonathan Margolis, enjoy.

Just a short hop from the undisputed world capital of gambling, fornication, drunkenness and gluttony is a 10,000-strong Muslim community. Jonathan Margolis heads down to the mosque

‘Other Muslims think it’s crazy that we’re here’: Ahmadullah Rokai Yusufzai, aka Rocky (right), with, from left, his cousin Farid Jalal, son Naweed Belal Yusufzai, 18, and daughter Medinah, 11. Photograph: Jonathan Margolis for the Observer

Even for someone indifferent or downright hostile to religion, Friday prayers at a mosque have a haunting sound and beauty, a compelling quality of devoutness and spirituality rare in any other faith and hard not to find deeply affecting. At Masjid-e-Tawheed, the mosque I am visiting on a crisp winter's morning, there is good reason, perhaps, for the congregation of more than 200 to feel an extra surge of passion for their faith, of feeling that theirs is the right belief system for this flawed world.
For while in one direction from the mosque, the view of barren, rocky mountains shimmering in the desert sunlight could place Masjid-e-Tawheed in any number of locations in the Islamic world, a couple of miles in the opposite direction lies what one would imagine to be the worst place in the world for an even halfway-strict Muslim – something, indeed, not unlike hell.

Ramadhan Dua - Ya Tawaab

This dua is usually recited on the month of Ramadhan, during the night prayers aka Taraweeh. It is usually recited in between the prayers, some mosques recite it loudly after every 2 Rakkahs(Prayer ritual of 2 bows and 2 prostrations), some after every 4, some after every 10 and some none at all. However, in Tanzania most mosques say this dua in between prayers throughout Ramadhan.
Enjoy!

I leave you with the Hadith Below:
A’isha (May Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet(peace be upon him), “If I knew which night is Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power), what should I say during it?” The Prophet told her to say:
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni.
“O Allah, truly You are all-Pardoning, You love to Pardon, so Pardon me.” [Tirmidhi]

Ramadhan Countdown - First 10 days of Mercy‏

Today we complete the first 10 days of Ramadhan. For Muslims the first 10 days are known as the 10 days of mercy. So how are we all doing? Did we all make it to 10 days without breaking our fasts? Did we go to the two Jumaas? How about the Taraweeh prayers? Well do not despair if you didn't, you still have 20 more days to make up for it. May Allah forgive our sins as he is quick to forgive as stated below in the Quran.

Say: 'O My servants who have transgressed against your own souls:

do not despair of God's mercy, for God forgives all sins.It is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.' (Qur'an chapter 39 verse 53)

HD - Full Taraweeh Makkah 2013 Day 8 w/ English Subtitle (Ramadhan 1434)

Taraweeh Prayers in Makkah on Day 8 of Ramadhan.

Take note of the other guy who echoes after the imam, he is guiding the crowd of how to follow the imam(our speed).

It was narrated that Nadr bin Shaiban said:

“I met Abu Salamah bin ‘Abdur-Rahman and said: ‘Tell me a Hadith that you heard from your father, in which mention is made of the month of Ramadan.’ He said: ‘Yes, my father narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) mentioned the month of Ramadan and said: “A month which Allah has enjoined upon you to fast, and in which I have established Qiyam (prayers at night) as Sunnah for you. So whoever fasts it and spends its nights in prayer out of faith and in hope of reward; he will emerge from his sins as on the day his mother bore him.”

Aya of the Day - Al Baqara(The Cow) v 286

On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith."
-Qur'an Chapter 2 verse 286

Building Collapses in Nigeria

This happened on July 11th 2013.

The three –storey building located on 29b Oloto St, off Cemetery Road collapsed, killing no fewer than seven people.

Seven other people were reported to have been rescued from the disaster including a baby and were in hospital for medical attention. Some are in critical condition.
Officials say preliminary investigations have revealed that the building caved in because of structural defects which were left unattended to for quite a long time by the building owner.
The Nigerian Red Cross say rescue operations were continuing as they suspected that more people might be trapped under the building.

An eyewitness told the Nigerian Leadership Newspaper that she was on the balcony of the second floor when the building came down on its own.
“I am happy because my mother and, brothers and sisters are alive. We all survived it. They have been taken to hospital for treatment. We did not know that the building will collapse. By about 2:00 a.m. when the building collapsed, some of our co-tenants were trapped, while some were dead.
